POLES WIN IN KHARKOV

During the fourth edition of Kharkov Siren Film Festival that came to an end on 13th May, Poles triumphed twice. Young Polish filmmakers received the main awards of the festival.

Kharkov Siren Film Festival is held annually from 2008 in Ukraine. The abundant competition section presents films of all short genres up to 30 minutes. At the Sunday’s closing gala Grand Prix of the festival went to Piotr Subbotko in recognition of his “Glasgow” produced in frame of 30 minutes programme by Munk Studio in coproduction with Wajda Studio. The Russian filmmaker Vladimir Fokin, who presided over the jury in Kharkov stated: “Glasgow is a great film with solid  acting roles of a mother and a boy. It is outstanding in terms of dramaturgy and it shows a comprehensive story that we all enjoyed immensely”. The jury’s verdict was unanimous.

The second awarded film was Bartosz Kruhlik’s “Vanishing”. A student of Polish National Film School in Łodź received the award for the Best Director in recognition of his short fiction film.

The festival was held between 10th and 13th May.
