"3 DAYS OF FREEDOM" - THE PRIZE-WINNER IN SPAIN
Last Saturday, 40th edition of the short film festival, taking place from 9th June in Spanish Huesca, ended. From among 33 the films presented in the documentary competition, the jury appreciated and honoured the documentary film "3 Days of Freedom" by Łukasz Borowski.
The film by Łukasz Borowski tells the story of Peter, who is released from prison after fifteen years. The simplest actions present a challenge for him. Lost and dazed, and at the same time fascinated, he tries to understand the contemporary world. However, this would not be the most difficult thing for him. While being on a pass, he would have to come to terms with his own life, assess the past and estimate his chances for the future, and choose, what is most important for him. How would he use three days of freedom? The film was made within the frames of the documentary programmeDOK PRO implemented in Andrzej Wajda Film School.Festival in Huesce is one of the oldest festivals in Spain, presenting short-length films from around the world. Every year, the films are assessed by four independent juries, and the awards are given in four categories: the best Latin American documentary and short film and the best documentary and short film in the international competition. The selection included documentary films, short feature films as well as animations. This year, four Polish films qualified for the competition. Three of them - "Decrescendo” by Marta Minorowicz, "Reception" by Maciej Bochniak and the aforementioned „3 Days of Freedom" were shown in the documentary competition, while the animated „Noise” was the only film representing Poland in the feature film category.

„3 Days of Freedom" was honoured with film awards already two times this year. In April, the documentary by Łukasz Borowski received a special distinction at the Swiss festival Visions du reel.
