PIOTR ZŁOTOROWICZ’S DOCUMENTARY SCHOOL FILM AWARDED IN DIJON
At the recent Short Film Festival “Fenêtres sur courts” in Dijon, France, the documentary “Charcoal Burners” by Piotr Złotorowicz was honoured with the Grand Prix award
The French festival “Fenêtres sur courts” took place for the fifteenth time, but for the first time the European film competition appeared in the programme. On the 2nd November, the winners were announced; among them, one Polish short-length documentary, “Charcoal Burners” by Piotr Złotorowicz.
Piotr Złotorowicz is a graduate of Szczecin University of Technology, and since 2006 – a student of the Film And Television Directing Department at The Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź.
His documentary school film “Charcoal Burners” shows a short story of Marek and Janina, who work every summer in Bieszczady as charcoal burners. The protagonists lead a simple, unhurried life, quite different from the bustle of urban civilization. We watch them during everyday activities, from the earliest hours in the morning to the twilight, being together with them among the wild nature, which sets the rhythm of every day.
