POLISH SHORTS ON FESTIVALS IN JULY
For the fans of short films in Poland, the first holiday month passes under the aegis of the festival Animator, whereas the audience abroad will have a chance to watch Polish films at the festivals in the Czech Republic, Croatia, Australia and many others.
At the beginning of July, the festivals which started in June are still going on. Two Polish animated films – "Bless You!" by Paulina Ziółkowska and "Colaholic" by Marcin Podolec – were shown in the competition at the twentieth edition of the ShorTS International Animation Festival in Italy. At the same time, the viewers of the Sardinia Film Festival have a chance to watch "My name is Julita" by Filip Dzierżawski, whereas in Kazakhstan, there are screenings of "Fascinatrix" by Justyna Mytnik. Both of these films qualified for the competitions.
The first festival, which begins in July and at which Polish short films will be shown, is the Czech Basta Fest. During the event, the jury will evaluate two productions from Poland - "Tremors" by Dawid Bodzak and "Fascinatrix" by Justyna Mytnik. A week later starts the seventeenth edition of the Tabor Film Festival, whose competitions include "Three Women on a Bench" by Karolina Borgiasz and "Room" by Michał Socha.
At the festival Animator, held in Poznan, the audience will watch as many as seven Polish animated films – starting from young film-makers, gaining international recognition – Jola Bańkowska and her "Story" and "Acid Rain" by Tomek Popakul – to the master of Polish animated film, Piotr Dumała and his "Last Supper." In addition, the following films compete for the awards" "The Hunt" by Mateusz Jarmulski, "Year" by Małgorzata Bosak-Serafińska, "Idol" by Grzegorz Koncewicz and Marek Serafiński and "Portrait of Suzanne" by Izabela Plucińska.
Another festival abounding in Polish animated films is the Melbourne International Animation Festival, where five short films from Poland will be presented in the competition. These are: "Tango of Longing" by Marta Szymańska, "Squaring the Circle" by Karolina Specht, "Thicket" by Adrianna Matwiejczuk, "Bless You!" by Paulina Ziółkowska and "Nebula" by Marcin Nawrotka.
