"STARTING POINT" AWARDED IN SHEFFIELD

"Starting Point" by Michał Szcześniak won in the short documentary film competition at the festival Sheffield Doc/Fest 2015!

"Starting Point" was one of three Polish films which competed for awards at the festival held in Great Britain. "Object" by Paulina Skibińska and "Super Unit" by Teresa Czepiec were also included in the competition. The jury appreciated the documentary film by Szcześniak for the way of making the film, dedication to discovering the story and respect for the subject matter depicted in the film. 

"Starting Point" presents the story of Aneta, who "totally rebelled" when she was 19. She went to prison for murder. Ten year later, she leaves the prison every day to visit the rest home, where Ms Helena, sick from her early childhood, lives. She feels that Aneta has everything one can want from life and that is why she passionately asks her about her life. Aneta has to face an ordeal, in which Ms Helena will help her. The film's cinematography was made by Przemysław Niczyporuk. The documentary film's co-producers is Studio Filmowe N. The production of the Munk Studio-Polish Filmmakers Association has already won numerous awards. In June 2014, "Starting Point" was given the Amber award for the best short documentary film at the 33rd festival "Młodzi i film" (The Young and the Cinema), it was also appreciated, among others, at "Kameralne Lato," "Opolskie lamy," Documentary Forms Festival "NURT," "Documenta Madrid" and International Film Festival Human Rights in Film in Kiev. During last year's edition of the "Plus Cameraimage" festival, the film won the Golden Frog award in the Short Documentary Film Competition.
