ANOTHER SPECIAL MENTION FOR „TWIST AND BLOOD”
After last week’s success at Molodist, where “Twist and Blood” by Kuba Czekaj was awarded the Best Student Film, its crew has every reason to feel glad again as today the film received a special mention at Czech OSTRAVA PICTURES.
International Student Film Festival OSTRAVA PICTURES is an event launched to promote the works of students coming from Visehrad Countries: Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia. Five days long festival consists not only of competitive screenings but also hosts numerous discussions and workshops, organized under the guidance of experienced tutors.
At today’s closing party “Twist and Blood” by Kuba Czekaj received the special mention in the cathegory of author’s film. Czekaj’s film, just like his previous ones steps into the world of children describing the reality seen through their eyes. The story’s main character – an eleven-year-old, overweight Belly Boy who is living under a big pressure being put on him by both his parents and peers. The only person he allows to enter his world is Missymouse. Thus, she will be the only one to whom he will confess his big secret. The film was made at Krzysztof Kieślowski Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice and is Czekaj’s graduation film.
Apart from “Twist and Blood” there were two other films screened at the festival – “Charcoal burners” by Piotr Złotorowicz and “MC. Man of vinyl” directed by Bartosz Warwas – both produced by Polish National Film School in Łódź.
The fifth edition of the festival took place in Ostrava between 7th and 12th November.
