"A LONG TIME AGO IN SILESIA" AWARDED IN TURKEY
The film "A long time ago in Silesia" by Tomasz Protokowicz was chosen the Best Short Fiction Film at the 16 edition of the International Izmir Short Film Festival. The festival was held from 17 to 22 November.
The film "A Long Time Ago in Silesia," produced by Wrocław Film School Mastershot, was awarded at the International Izmir Short Film Festival in Turkey, which ended on November 22. The film won the Golden Cat award for the Best Short Fiction Film. At the festival, the film was represented by the costume designer Dorota Schleiss. The president of the jury that awarded "A Long Time Ago in Silesia" was the Turkish director Serdar Akar. The festival in Izmir was given the quality mark "Europe for Festivals - Festivals for Europe," which brings together courageous and interesting festivals, which are artistically engaged and in which local communities participate to a large extent.
Twin brothers Rysiek and Stefan - the film's protagonists - live in an orphanage run by nuns. It is located in a small Silesian town, where Poles and Germans live next to each other. The boys had bad luck as they grow up in one of the most abominable periods in the history of this place - in the period of the third Reich. Soon, they will go their separate ways, to meet again after several years, in very unpleasant circumstances.
