The upcoming, 38th edition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival will be held from February 5 to 13, 2016. The organisers of the festival have announced the list of films qualified for the International Competition. Among 79 competition films, there are three titles from Poland: "A Documentary Film" by Marcin Podolec, “No matter what happens, I love you” by Justyna Mytnik and "Sexy Laundry" by Izabela Plucińska.
"A Documentary Film," directed by Marcin Podolec and produced by the Lodz Film School, is an animated documentary film. The film, which has already been screened at DOK Leipzig Film Festival in Germany, SICAF in Korea and Leeds in Great Britain, is a portrait of a father whose grown-up children moved out of the family home.
“No matter what happens, I love you” by Justyna Mytnik is a short fiction film, also produced by Lodz Film School. The film's protagonist returns home from the war in Iraq. He finds out that his sister’s girlfriend has been living in the family home. He is unable to accept her sexual orientation, so he tries to put an end to her homosexual relationship.
The animated film by Izabela Plucińska, "Sexy Laundry," was made as a Polish-German-Canadian co-production. It is a story of a couple who have been married for 25 years and who are spending a weekend together in a luxurious hotel. It is worth adding that the international premiere of "Sexy Laundry" took place at the Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
In this edition, Poland will also have its representative at the co-production forum Euro Connection. The project "Deer boy" directed by Katarzyna Gondek and produced by Centrala Film has been invited to participate in the forum. The film's protagonist is a hunter's son, who is born with antlers on his head. His father tries to teach him how to be a real man.
Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival is the largest event of this type in Europe. Every year, the festival and accompanying film market are visited by about 3500 professionals from the short film industry from around the world and several thousands of viewers.
