"PINKY" AND "MILKY BROTHER" AWARDED AT THE MOLODIST FESTIVAL

Two Polish films were awarded at the Molodist film festival, which ended last Sunday in Kiev. "Pinky" by Tomasz Cichoń won the Best Film in the International Short Competition award, and "Milky Brother" by Vahram Mkhitaryan – the Special Award of the Jury.

The 45th edition of the Molodist Kyiv International Film Festival, which ended on Sunday, November 1st, turned out to be very successful for Polish films. The film "Pinky" by Tomasz Cichoń, was chosen the Best Film in the International Short Competition. In addition to the statuette, the film got a cash prize amounting to 2500 dollars. In the same competition, the Jury's Special Award went to the Armenian-Polish co-production "Milky Brother" directed by Vahram Mkhitaryan. The jury that awarded both films consisted of: Catherine Dussart (France), Dariusz Gajewski (Poland), Matthias Freihol (Germany), Michelangelo Messina (Italy) and Yaroslav Pilunsky (Ukraine).

One evening, Tomek, Leszek and Seweryn, the main characters of “Pinky” steal an expensive car in a ‘snatch 'n grab’ hit and immediately sell it to a fence. Aiming to celebrate a job well done, they go to a local Vietnamese bar for a beer. In high spirits on account of their success, they argue brazenly and insolently with the staff in the bar. As yet, they have no idea that their night is going to be a long and painful one…

"Milky Brother" is a story of a little boy named Seto who lives in a small village in Armenia. Soon, a new member of his family is to be born. Seto is hoping for a brother, yet the infant dies. Instead of a little brother, a lamb appears in Seto's life. Initial dislike turns quickly into liking – friendship evolves between Seto and the lamb. Unfortunately, not for long. The family decides that the boys has to part with his favourite animal.
