ANOTHER SPECIAL MENTION FOR THE FILM BY KUCIA
"Fugue for cello, trumpet and a landscape" by Jerzy Kucia received another special mention this week. The film was listed as one of the winners of the Bosnian Banjaluka festival that for the last eight months has been held in late October.
Film by Jerzy Kucia - "Fugue for cello, trumpet and a lanscape" received the Jury's Special Mention. This marks an eleventh award for the "Fugue.." that so far got awarded at festivals in Hiroshima, Dresden or Krakow to list just a few.
Jerzy Kucia is back after thirteen years of silence with this meditative story in the form of a poetic film based on a relationship between images and music. The film shows the process of evoking feelings and searching for landscape specificity by recounting events which have taken place in the scenery.
Banjaluka Festival, which has been organised continously since 2008, represents historical continuity of animation in Banja Luka, which has its roots in te May Festival of Animated film originated in 1971 as the first festival of animated films in the region of former Yugoslavia. This year's edition of the Banjaluka festival was held between 23rd and 28th October.
It is worth to add that apart from the awarded "Fuge for cello, trumpet and a landscape" by Kucia, another three Polish animated films got selected to screen as a part of the competitive section of the festival – "Home" by Agnieszka Borowa, "Kinki" by Izumi Yoshida and animated series for kids "Agi Bagi" by Tomek Niedźwiedź.
