POLISH STUDIO NOMINATED FOR CARTOON TRIBUTES

GS Animation - the studio from Gdańsk, in business from 2004 - was nominated for the prestigious Cartoon Tributes award, given every year at the Cartoon Forum in September. It is the first nomination for a Polish studio in history.

Cartoon Tribute is an award which is annually given to broadcasters, investors, distributors and producers, who positively influenced the animated film industry in the previous year. This year, as many as 15 companies will compete for the award in three categories - the broadcaster of the year, the distributor of the year and the producer of the year. GS Animation, nominated in the last category, will vie with four European studios: Gaumont Animation (France), Sixteen South (United Kingdom), Studio Film Bilder (Germany) and Vivement Lundi! (France).

The award ceremony will be held on September 17.

GS Animation, whose owners are three friends: Robert Jaszczurowski, Łukasz Kacprowicz and Marcin Wasilewski, has been in business in Gdańsk for over 10 years. It can boast, among others, the making of an animated series for BBC ("Harry and Toto"), the animated film series "Mami Fatale," shown among others on PULS 2 TV or on the Argentinian channel PakaPaka as well as co-operation with such artists as Jacaszek, Robert Turło, Łukasz Targosz and Katarzyna Krakowiak. The short film "Lost Senses" by GS Animation, directed by Marcin Wasilewski, won awards, among others, at the SIGGRAPH festival in the USA and at the Portuguese festival Avanca. In this studio, the first Polish webseries was made, too, namely the animated film series "Bear me" by Kasia Wilk, which is the extended version of her short film of the same title, the winner of 18 awards at international festivals. In the studio, we are currently working on the series "Basia" and "Grand Banda."
