POLAND – A GUEST COUNTRY AT FANTOCHE AFF
A vast panorama of Polish animated films will be presented as a part of the programme of the 13th edition of Fantoche Animation Film Festival that will be held in Swiss Baden this September. There are more than 40 Polish films in the programme.
For many years now Polish films have screened in the programme of the Swiss festival and thanks to their high artistic level they have also gained numerous awards and special mentions at the festival. Two animation specialist from Poland were invited as curators to select and present a programme of Polish animated films. Anja Šošić – a producer at the Warsaw based studio Human Ark and Piotr Szczepanowicz – director and producer of animated films known from his debut film "Railway Watchman" selected nearly more than 40 films that were produced over the period of the last 60 years to screen in Switzerland.
The curators have selected the films that are the most outstanding examples of the Polish craft in animated films. Films will be presented in four thematic programmes: Inner Worlds, Between us, A social puzzle, On the move. Although the programmes feature films by the masters of animation including films by Jerzy Kalina or Witold Giersz, the curators decided to put special emphasis on the Polish contemporary films.
Apart from the retrospective of Polish animated films the programme of Focus on Poland features some extra events devoted to Polish animated film. The following events will be organised in frames of the industry programme: Łódź Film School presentation and screening, Wojtek Wawszczyk's masterclass, Human Ark studio presentation and many mote.
The Polish Animation Producers Association is the Polish partner of the programme.
This year's edition of the festival will be held between 1-6 September.
