BALKANIMA HONOURS THE UNIVERSITY OF ARTS IN POZNAŃ

45 films sent to Belgrade from 21 countries were screened in the programme of this year's Serbian Balkanima. A special award, given annually to the best artistic school, this year went to Poland.

The ninth edition of the festival abounded with many Polish attractions. In the competition, one could watch "The full sun" by Adela Kaczmarek, while in the schools' programme such films as the following met: "Protozoa" by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi, "Fairytale cooking chronicles" by Kamil Jaworek representing the Polish National Film School in Łódź and well known to the festival audience "What happens when children don't eat soup" by Paweł Prewencki and "Games" by Maja Tetłak from the Poznań University of Arts. The Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków was represented this year by Paulina Sobczak and her film "Not for children" in the very same programme

During the Saturday closing ceremony the best artistic school award went to the 90-year-old University of Arts in Poznań. The graduates of this university are, among others, Robert Proch, the author of repeatedly awarded "The Gallery" and Agata Prętka, who presented her film "Talk to him" at over 15 international festivals last year. The promising successor of Proch, Paweł Prewencki, is the author of "What happens when children don't eat soup," that screens at successive international festivals.

The ninth edition of Balkanima took place from 2 to 6 October in Belgrade.
