On the occasion of the 25th anniversary edition of the festival the organisers decided to show Dutch documentary cinematography in a special programme. Also on the occasion of the anniversary, yet another special programme was created: "RE: Constructing History," in which the last quarter of the century is shown through the eyes of documentary film makers from all around the world. Russian director Victor Kossakovsky, who has a retrospective at the festival, will also present his top 10 this year. Another novelty in the IDFA programme, prepared in the cooperation with Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum, is the Paradocs programme which presents video art.
