“MAGDA” GAINS FURTHER ACCLAIM
Good news continues to roll in for Adela Kaczmarek's film. The animated film has now been recognised at the Torelló Mountain Film Festival in Spain.
The Torelló Mountain Film Festival, held in Catalonia, Spain, stands as one of the world's most esteemed mountain film festivals. Since 1983, the festival has been a beacon for productions centred on mountaineering, climbing, exploration, and environmental conservation. Its programme features documentaries and fiction films, showcasing people struggling against nature and the breathtaking beauty of mountain landscapes. The festival also serves as a hub for mountain enthusiasts and filmmakers, fostering an exchange of experiences and creative inspiration.
The recognised Magda by Adela Kaczmarek tells the story of the titular Magda (15), a teenage skier. She joins the Polish resistance and helps smuggle documents and fugitives through the mountains to Slovakia. One day, she learns that a group of 23 pilots urgently need to cross the border because the Gestapo is onto them. She devises a risky plan to lure the Nazis her way, thus letting the pilots sneak by unnoticed. Unfortunately, the Germans are experienced skiers too, able to shoot and reload their guns while skiing at high speeds. Magda must take a chance as she rushes through the snow and into the forest.
More information about the festival can be found on its website.
