ANIMATION BY PAWEŁ PREWENCKI AWARDED IN CHILE

On Sunday evening ended the fifth edition of animated film festival Chilemnos. The diploma film by Paweł Prewencki "What happens when children don't eat soup" was among over thirteen awarded animated films.

In this year's international competition of the festival, five Polish films participated - apart from the award-winning animated film by Prewencki, also "Ziegenort" by Tomasz Popakul, "Rondo" by Artur Kordas, "Once There Was A King" by Tytus Majewski, as well as "WILQ Negotiator" by Leszek Nowicki and Bartosz Minkiewicz. The winner turned out to be the film by Prewencki "What happens when children don't eat soup", that was announced the best film of the competition.

It is the fourth foreign award for Prewencki's film, which has already been awarded at the Portuguese festival Fest in Espinho, the Swiss Fantoche and the Slovenian Animateka.

Siblings sit at dinner and  eat soup under the watchful eye of their grandfather. When the door opens, and  the room is filled with bright light, the children run away and next moment they find themselves in  an entirely different world. Desert streets of a nameless town conceal dark secrets, and  the reality appears to be a hostile nightmare. Paweł Prewencki evokes the rich iconography of horror films, creating a world in  which two disobedient children try to cheat destiny and  escape the punishment.  Can they escape their grandfather's rage by traversing the maze of traps?

Apart from numerous screeninings  the programme of Chilemonos featured also many events devoted to professionals such as workshops and meetings with specialists, artists and producers associated with animated film.  This year, the representatives of two Polish animation studios - Se-Ma-For and Platige Image - were also invited to give a workshops at the festival.
