MARCIN KOSZAŁKA AWARDED IN KARLOVY VARY!

46. Karlovy Vary International Film Festival came to an end along with great success of Polish director Marcin Koszałka whose “Declaration of immortality” won the Best Documentary Film Award.

“Declaration of immortality” is a portrait of Piotr “Mad” Korczak, the legendary mountaineer, discoverer of many innovative climbing techniques, the first one who considered climbing as a sport. Marcin Koszałka – as one of his old students – now asks questions about unavoidable end of his career, about the influence of his age, and also about the death and an attempt to cope with the awareness of the death."  – said Aleksandra Biernacka, film festival coordinator of Polish Public Television,  for Polish Press Agency (PAP).

Since the premiere at last year’s 50. Krakow Film Festival where „Declaration of immortality” was given the Audience Award and the President of the Association of Polish Filmmakers Award, Marcin Koszałka’s film has received several important prizes at international festivals such as: Silver Hugo Award for The Best Documentary or Silver Gentian at 59. Trento Film Festival in Italy.

This year’s award in Karlovy Vary is the second success of Marcin Koszałka at this festival. In 2009 his documentary “Till it hurts” won the special jury prize.

46. edition of Karlovy Vary International Film Festival was held between 1st  and 9th of July.
