POLISH DOCUMENTARIES AT CAMERAIMAGE

The next edition of the International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography EnergaCAMERIMAGE is taking place mid-November. Its competitions are going to feature two Polish productions.

EnergaCAMERIMAGE is the largest and most famous festival devoted to cinematographers and their art. Thanks to the festival, people started noticing that cinematographers co-create the visual side of films – they're artists, just like directors and actors. EnergaCAMERIMAGE is also an outstanding forum for presentations and discussions on the future of film art. By bringing together respected filmmakers and helping debutants and students, it lets them discover new artistic avenues.

In addition to the Main Competition, the festival also holds the Cinematographers' Debuts Competition, the Polish Films Competition, the Directors' Debuts Competition, or the TV Series Competition. There are also two competitions devoted to documentaries – both feature-length and short ones. The audience will get to see a Polish production in each one.

We could already see outstanding cinematography – made by the director himself – in Karol Pałka's "Bucolic". Other films competing for the award in this competition are listed here. In turn the work of the director and cinematographer Andrzej Cichocki, author of the documentary "A Little Bit of Paradise", was appreciated in the short film competition. The Polish film competition line-up can be found here.

Polish productions are also featured in the Student Etudes Competition. The film Astronaut by Lin Erhao and Kamila Karska from the Łódź Film School will be competing for The Golden Tadpole. Lin Erhao is responsible for its cinematography. Gracjana Piechula's "The Nest" – with cinematography by Aleksandra Kamińska – also has a chance to win. The production was made at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice. An etude from the Warsaw Film School may also win in this competition. Selectors recognised Max Bugajak's cinematography in The Howling by Bartosz Brzeziński A list of all qualified films can be found here.

This year's edition of the festival will take place on 13-20 November.
