POLISH SHORTS AT FESTIVALS IN JANUARY
January is a quiet month when it comes to the festival screenings. Nevertheless, a few festivals will present Polish shorts this month.
Festival year will start with a screening of "Mother" at the Jaipur International Film Festival in India. Also in India, the Pune International Film Festival will present "Pussy" by Renata Gąsiorowska. The animation will be present in January also at the London Short Film Festival, the Prague Short Film Festival in Czech Republic and the Black Movie – Geneva International Film Festival in Switzerland, which will also present "Foreign Body" by Marta Magnuska.
Another festival which will show Polish shorts is Flickerfest International Short Film Festival in Australia. There we will see a documentary "Euphoria" by Natalia Pietsch and a short feature "Evil Deeds" by Piotr Domalewski. In the meantime in France the Premiers Plans Film Festival will host screenings of "It's Really Awesome" by Katarzyna Warzecha and "Lexicon of Reflections" by Urszula Reczyńska. A few days later, during the Vilnius International Short Film Festival in Lithuania, the audience will see a documentary "Polonaise" by Agnieszka Elbanowska.
During the second half of the month the Sundance Festival will take place in the USA. In America we will see "Volte" by Monika Kotecka and Karolina Poryzała, "Black" by Tomasz Popakul and "Deer Boy" by Katarzyna Gondek.
Also in January the Trieste Film Festival, which this year invited a strong representation of Polish films, will start in Italy. Among the presented shorts are: "60 Kilos of Nothing" by Piotr Domalewski, "Pola" by Edyta Rembała, "Bernard" by Anna Oparkowska and "Bogdan and Rose" by Milena Dutkowska. A little bit later in Hungary, during the Budapest International Documentary Festival, we will see "Close Ties" by Zofia Kowalewska.
Polish short films will celebrate the end of the month at the Miradas Doc International Documentary Film Festival. Five films were invited to the competition: "One Two Zero" by Anna Pawluczuk, "Collection" by Marcin Polar, "Volte", "Between Us" by Maciej Miller and "Dust" by Jakub Radej.
