THREE POLISH FILMS AWARDED IN PÄRNU
This year, the 29th edition of the Pärnu International Documentary and Antropology Film Festival was held in Pärnu. Three Polish films returned from Estonia with awards: "Something better to come", "The Shepherd's Song" and "Invisible".
Pärnu Film Festival is the oldest event of this kind in Baltic countries. Since 1999, an additional competition organised in co-operation with Estonian Television takes place within the frames of the festival. The documentary films in this section are broadcast, and the award is given on the basis of the television viewers' votes. This year's Estonian People's Award went to Hanna Polak for her film "Something better to come".
The International Jury Award, given by the jury consisting of Liis Nimik, Gabriel Dettre, Andres Mesikepp, Khaled Sari and Oskar Wollsten was given to Vahram Mkhitaryan for his documentary "The Shepherd's Song". The film was appreciated for the best audiovisual portrayal.
"Invisible" by Zofia Pręgowska was chosen the best student documentary film. Student films were assessed by the jury consisting of: Anu Raud, Andri Arula, Paolo Girol, Mati Põldre and Jüri Talvet.
