"THE SHADOW FOREST" AWARDED AT SARDINIA FILM FESTIVAL
The short fiction film by Andrzej Cichocki, "The Shadow Forest," was awarded with the School Over 18 award and the Special Mention for Photography at Sardinia Film Festival. The festival was held in the city of Sassari from 21 to 27 June.
Last weekend, two new awards joined the collection of prizes won by "The Shadow Forest" by Andrzej Cichocki. The jury of Sardinia Film Festival, which ended on June 27, consisting of the Irish film producer Jane Doolan, the Irish composer Maurice Seezer and the artistic director of the Portuguese film festival FIKE - João Paulo Macedo decided to award the film with the School Over 18 award and the Special Mention for Photography.
In the motivation of the School Over 18 award the jurors emphasise that they award Cichocki’s film "for the deep interpretation of the relationship between man on one side, memory and nature on the other; for the intensity of the screenplay, skilfully enriched through the soundtrack; for the delicate and effective fusion between space and time; for the narrative rhythm supported by precise and never obvious technical choices."
The Special Mention for Photography went to Andrzej Cichocki "for the moving interpretation of the darkest times in the history of Poland, with light becoming a protagonist that captures the escape that a human kind chased by the war undertakes into the forest; the lost gaze of people and wolves is enlightened with apprehension and hope, between the dark bodies and the bright sunlight, all with a professional rendering of the deepness of history."
