POLISH SHORTS IN CLERMONT-FERRAND

Poland will be represented at the Short Film Market that has just begun in the French town of Clermont-Ferrand. Among several dozen national stands there is one of the Krakow Film Foundation promoting the POLISH SHORTS project.

This is the twenty-fourth edition of the Short Film Market which accompanies one of the biggest and most important short film events in the world, the Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival. Every year thousands of short film enthusiasts come to France and among them there is a large group of film professionals looking for the most recent and best film productions.|||Film producers and distributors as well as TV channel representatives and film festival organizers who visit the event will not miss an opportunity to look in at the Polish stand which makes a second-time appearance at Clermont-Ferrand this year and enjoyed huge popularity a year ago. POLISH SHORTS, a new project launched by the Krakow Film Foundation, will have its premiere at the market. The project developed with the support of and in cooperation with the Polish Film Institute involves a number of actions aimed at intensifying the promotion of the Polish short film abroad. The first step is the issuing, together with the Polish Film Institute, of a DVD with a selection of nine short fiction, documentary and animated films produced in 2008. One of the films included in the selection is Luxury directed by Jarosław Sztandera, which also represents Poland in the festival competition. The webpage www.polishshorts.pl was launched at the end of January with an aim to provide information on the Polish short film. The Polish stand will promote the films that may be viewed at the video library (over 50 pictures) as well as many other recent productions. The market will continue until February 6.
