In the Romanian city of Sibiu the Astra Film Festival has just finished. Three Polish films were awarded in Romania: "Communion" by Anna Zamecka, "Urban Cowboys" by Paweł Ziemilski and "Education" by Emi Buchwald.

Astra Film Festival exists already for 24 years. At the beginning it was devoted to ethnographic and anthropological films, yet with time it has developed and became one of the leading documentary film festivals in this part of Europe. As one of the few documentary film festivals it was granted the financial support from the Media Desk programme. This year's edition took place in Sibiu between the 16th and 22nd of October.

This year three Polish films proved successful at the festival. The award for The Best Documentary In The Center & Eastern Europe Competition was given to the documentary "Communion" directed by Anna Zamecka. "Education" by Emi Buchwald was chosen the best film in the DocSchool Competition, and the award for the best directing in the same competition went to Paweł Ziemilski for his film "Urban Cowboys".
