POLISH ANIMATED FILMS AWARDED AT THE FESTIVAL ETIUDA & ANIMA

Yesterday evening ended the 23rd edition of student and animated film festival Etiuda & Anima. Among the winners of the international ANIMA competition, there are Polish films.

In this year's competition ANIMA, 68 films from 30 countries competed (as many as 1126 were submitted to the selection), made by both students and renowned film-makers.  The jury, consisting of: Georges Schwizgebel (president), Andreas Hykade, Anita Killi, Andrzej Klimowski, Nancy Denney-Phelps gave the Special Golden Jabberwocky award for the best animated student film study to the film "Foreign Body" by Marta Magnuska. This film, according to the evaluators, was beautifully expressed through the sparing use of strokes and lines, which tend to be rough and courageous. It passed the message about collective and personal complexes and fears in an emphatic way.

Honorary mention from Andrzej Klimkowski went to Marta Pajek for her animated film "Impossible Figures and Other Stories II." The artist justified his choice in this way: "We live, or most of us used to live, in the urban environment.  We consider the buildings and houses, inhabited by us, to be reliable. However, the film by Marta Pajek calls it into question, and takes us on a disturbing journey. It is a beautiful nightmare, a visual poem."

The ASIFA Poland award, presented by Witold Giersz, was given to Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi for her film "Locus."
