DOCUMENTARY FILMS FROM LODZ FILM SCHOOL AT DAF

Five short documentary films made by Lodz Film School will be available on-line on the website DAFilms.com The films are available for free only until Sunday.

Doc Alliance Films will present young documentary film talents from Lodz Film School.  It is one of the oldest universities of this type, which gets high places in many international rankings of film schools. The graduates of the Lodz Film School include such masters of the cinema as Jerzy Skolimowski, Krzysztof Zanussi, Zbigniew Rybczyński, Krzysztof Kieślowski and Roman Polański.

Doc Alliance Films selected five film-makers from among the contemporary artistic output of the school, who according to them promise well.  Their films will be available for free on the website DAFilms.com until Sunday.

Among the selected films, there is the documentary film by Anna Morawiec "It Would Be Beautiful". It tells the story of 57-year-old Aleksandra, who decides to participate in the Mars One programme, a mission offering a one-way ticket to Mars. "Camp" by Tomasz Jeziorski also appears in the programme. The film shows everyday struggle against appetite waged by children and teenagers who were sent by their parents to a fitness and weight loss camp. Another film available on-line is "To Fly Or Not to Fly" by Aniela Gabryel, documenting the work of research scientists who try to describe the life of birds. DAF also selected the film "Rogalik" by Paweł Ziemilski, delving into the protagonists' private space, showing their everyday activities. The last documentary film on the list is "Eighteenth Birthday" by Marta Prus, in which the protagonist comes of age and leaves the Youth Fostering Centre in Lodz, planning to organise a birthday party.
