POLISH FILMS TRIUMPH AT THE MEDIAWAVE FESTIVAL!

Among the award-winners of the Hungarian film festival Mediawave, there are two Polish films! "Milky Brother" by Vahram Mkhitaryan won the Best Short Fiction Film award, and "Knife in the Wife" by Vita Drygas - the Best Short Documentary Film award.

Polish short films conquered the hearts of the jury at the Mediawave festival, winning two out of four main awards for short films. The Mediawave festival, organised in the Hungarian city Komarom, was held from April 28 to 2 May.

"Milky Brother" by Vahram Mkhitaryan was chosen the Best Short Fiction Film of the festival. The film was awarded by the jury consisting of Stefan Kitanov (Bulgaria),  Basak Emre (Turkey) and Pálfi György (Hungary).

The jury of the documentary film competition: Sergey Bukowski (Ukraine), Boris Mitic (Serbia) and Buglya Sándor (Hungary) awarded "Knife in the Wife" by Vita Drygas with the Best Short Documentary statuette.

The film by Vahram Mkitaryan  is a story of a little boy called Seto, who lives in a small village in Armenia. Soon, a new member of the family is to be born. Seto dreams about baby brother, but the newborn baby dies. Instead of a little brother, a lamb appears in the boy's life. Initial dislike quickly turns into liking - and friendship is born between Seto and the lamb. Unfortunately, not for long. The decision of the family means that the boy has to say goodbye to his "milky brother."

"Knife in the Wife" is a documentary impression showing the life of a provincial circus "Arizona." We watch the everyday life - sometimes grotesque, sometimes sad - of a six-person troupe, whose crowning glory is throwing knifes. And though the circus is past its prime, and the programme is not of the highest quality, the magic of the circus continues to glow and make the little viewers blush with joy.
