“DREAM UP THE TITLE ” BY KLAUDIA FORTUNIAK TO HAVE ITS INTERNATIONAL PREMIERE IN ROTTERDAM

The short fiction film “Dream Up the Title”, directed by Klaudia Fortuniak and produced at the Łódź Film School, has been selected for the non-competitive Short & Mid-length section of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR). The screening in Rotterdam will mark the film’s international premiere.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam is one of the most important film events worldwide and has long been regarded as a key platform for discovering new talents and showcasing the most compelling phenomena of contemporary independent cinema. This year’s edition takes place from 29 January to 8 February. The Short & Mid-length section focuses on auteur-driven fiction, documentary and animated films with a running time of up to 64 minutes, presenting bold and unconventional voices of emerging filmmakers.

Set in a dried-out Łódź deprived of its rivers, the film follows Małgorzata, who sets out on a journey to trace their remains. Deceived in a dream about the time, she falls asleep and misses the trip; although she manages to find the rivers, she never recovers the sleep. The film explores the experience of neurodiversity, the search for one’s place in a world governed by neurotypical norms, and the tension between wakefulness and dreaming.

The lead roles are played by Izabella Dudziak (known, among others, from "There Are No Ghosts in the Apartment on Dobra Street" and "Tell Me What You Feel") and Mateusz Górski. Cinematography was by Mateusz Nowak, editing by Piotr Pohl, with Korek Bojanowski serving as executive producer. Artistic supervision was provided by Jan Komasa.

"Dream Up the Title" has already received recognition, having been awarded an Honourable Mention at the 32nd Etiuda & Anima International Film Festival in Kraków.

During the Rotterdam festival, Renata Gąsiorowska’s "Pussy" will also be screened as part of the special thematic programme “The Future is NOW”, prepared to mark the 60th anniversary of the National Organization for Women (NOW), as previously reported on the Polish Animations website.
