POLISH SHORT FILMS AWARDED AT THE ITALIAN FESTIVAL
The documentary film "Horse Riders" by Anna Gawlita and the animated film "Creation" by Paweł Kleszczewski and Kasia Zimnoch were appreciated at the Fano International Film Festival.
The Fano International Film Festival is a five-day film event, at which films from all over the world are shown. The festival is a great opportunity for the Italian audience to meet the representatives of the film industry. The organisers focus primarily on the work of young and independent directors. The programme presents both documentary and feature films as well as animated films.
The debut film by Anna Gawlita was chosen as the best documentary film of the festival. The award-winning "Horse Riders" is set in a certain village near Opole. The Easter Sunday is celebrated. In spite of the fact that there are almost no horses left in the village, the farmers borrow them in order to set out on a many hours' journey and circle the boundaries of fields around the village.
In turn, the animated film "Creation" by Paweł Kleszczewski and Kasia Zimnoch won the special mention. The film is the first animation depicting the Slavic cosmogonic myth. The script of the film is based on folk tales as well as reconstructions by eminent historians and cultural experts. The film was made by a team of two, using the paint-on-glass animation technique.
