„A BLUE ROOM” AWARDED IN MEXICO
This year’s edition of the CutOut Fest animated film festival came to an end on Sunday 16th November. Among the laureates stands Tomasz Siwiński and his latest animated film “A Blue Room”.
“A Blue room” by Siwiński – who is the author of numerously awarded animations “TV set” and “Little black square” – is a story of a man who wakes up in a blue room. He's stuck and he can't escape. A window is his only connection to the outer world. It filters the reality in a very mysterious way... Film was made as a French – Polish coproduction by Sacrebleu Productions and Se-ma-for.
On the last day of the festival the five-person jury presented the Best Narrative Short to “A Blue room”.
“A Blue room” celebrated its international premiere at Cannes Film Festival in May this year where it formed a part of the prestigious Semaine de la Critique programme. Since then the film was selected to screen the at Ottawa IAFF, DOK Leipzig and Animateka to list just a few and was awarded in Portuguese CURTAS Vila do Conde ISFF and Mexican Guanajuato IFF.
The sixth edition of the Mexican festival CutOut Fest was held from 13th to 16th November. CutOut Fest is one of the major film festivals in Mexico that screens animated films. Apart from the rich programme of screenings the festival hosts a number of special events dedicated to professionals – lectures, masterclasses and industry meetings.
It is worth adding that this year eight Polish animated films made it to the programme of CutOut Fest – among others “Hippos” by Piotr Dumała, “Thin and skinny” by Aleksandra Brożyna as well as “Moonshine” by Michał Poniedzielski.
