POLISH SHORT FILMS AT CLERMONT-FERRAND
On the last day of January, in French Clermont-Ferrand, the 36th edition of the biggest and the most prominent European short film festival kicked off. This year again Polish films will stand a chance of being awarded, while from Monday on the national Polish Shorts stand will welcome international market guests for the seventh time.
Two films screened as a part of international competition will represent Poland this year – a short fiction “Father’s day” by Kacper Lisowski (prod. Polish Filmmakers Association – Munk Studio) as well as animated “Ziegenort” by Tomasz Popakul (prod. No Label), that will screen as part of experimental LABO competition. The winners will be announced on Saturday February 8th, on the last festival’s day.Polish films will also be well presented during the 29th edition of the Short Film Market that is held simultaneously to the festival. The POLISH SHORTS stand organized by the Krakow Film Foundation will be one of dozens international stands displaying the short film production of countries all over the world. On visiting Polish Shorts stand the festival guests will have an opportunity to discover the latest Polish short films, learn about film festivals in our country and get in touch with Polish film producers, sales agents and festivals’ representatives and producers representing Munk Studio, Wajda Studio, Paczek.com and NUR Foundation who will be present in Clermont-Ferrand, as well as representatives of New Europe Film Sales, Krakow Film Festival and Żubroofka Short Film Festival. The sixth edition of POLISH SHORTS 2013 compilation DVD, that features thirteen films representing all short genres, will premiere at the market. Additionally more than eighty Polish short films were included in the videolibrary and will be available for viewing by all the accredited festival guests.
This year there will be an extra feature in the market schedule – a market screening organized by the Krakow Film Foundation and dedicated to all the professionals scouting for films in Clermont-Ferrand. The “Polish Shorts Presents” screening includes seven films representing all the genres and features “Ab ovo” by Anita Kwiatkowska-Naqvi, “Killing auntie” by Mateusz Głowacki and “A visit” by Matej Bobrik to list just a few. The screening promotes the latest Polish Shorts 2013 dvd. Another significant highlight of the industry programme – the Euro Connection co-production forum organized for the sixth time by Sauve Qui Peut le Court Metrage in cooperation with Marche du Film Court de Clermont-Ferrand, CNC and Media Desk France, will once again bring together the experts and producers searching for new projects and coproduction opportunities. Krakow Film Foundation, which is the Polish partner of the Forum, has chosen the projects “A weekend in Paris” submitted by Paczek.com and “Thula” which producer - Łukasz Długołęcki - representing NUR Foundation - will participate in the forum as the observer. On February 5th the project “A weekend in Paris” will be presented at the pitching session by Jakub Pączek - the director and the producer in one person - in front of many prominent European producers and decision makers.
