„A FAVOURITE THING” BY PIOTR ISKRA AWARDED IN ITALY
Yesterday evening the first edition of Italian Voghera Film Festival came to an end. The debut short fiction film by Piotr Iskra – “Favourite thing” scored one of the main festival’s awards.
From nearly 500 submissions the organizers have chosen 15 films for the final programme – among them the only Polish film in the competition – “Favourite thing” by Iskra. On the last festival’s day, at the evening closing gala Piotr Iskra received the award for the Best Directing. Iskra was handed over the Sandro Bolchegi Award that commemorates the Italian filmmaker born in lombardian Voghera. The award of the Italian festival is the first European festival award for the film that already scored four awards at the American Lindsey Film Festival.The short fiction by Iskra was based upon the short story by Etgar Keret. Igor dreams of a beautiful toy but he gets a piggy bank instead. He initially dislikes the Piggy but it gradually becomes his friend as well as a sort of MacGuffin, thanks to which we are to discover Igor's inner world and know his parents from closer perspective. As a result of particular coincidence, the boy is surprisingly forced to make a dramatically hard decision..
In July the film will be screened at Italian Ischia Film Festival.
The Voghera Film Festival was held between 7th and 8th June.
