„GLASGOW” AWARDED IN TURKEY

This month short fiction „Glasgow” directed by Piotr Subbotko travelled to Turkey where the film was screened in the competition of the festival in Eregli. Last Sunday, at the closing gala, the film received the Second Award in the short cathegory.

“Glasgow”, that was produced in frame of 30 minutes programme by Munk Studio in coproduction with Wajda Studio and TVP is a story of a teenage boy named Damian. He is raised by a single mother and believes that his father is a famous footballer playing for the Celtic Glasgow F.C. His dream is to visit him one day. In his everyday life he cannot really find a common ground with his mother - trying now to make a new life for herself with a younger man. It is easier for him to get on with his pregnant friend, Monika, who is his senior by a few years. When the time comes, Damian will have to choose between his dreams and common sense, a consequence of his subconscious need to correct somebody else's mistakes.

The award in Turkish Eregili is the seventh international award for “Glasgow”. So far the film received the Best Debut Award at the Russian Message to Man, Special Award of the Cottbus Film Festival and Special Jury Prize at the French Tous Courts to name just a few.

The Eregili festival was held between 13th and 15th June.
