“BAD POLES” BY KAMILA ĆWIKLIŃSKA TO SCREEN IN BUENOS AIRES

The short documentary "Bad Poles", directed by Kamila Ćwiklińska and produced by Munk Studio, has been selected for the Orbita competition at the FIDBA International Documentary Film Festival in Argentina. Presence at FIDBA marks the film’s first appearance in an international competition and its premiere outside Europe. This year’s edition runs on 24-30 November

FIDBA is Argentina’s first international documentary film festival. It creates a space where films which share a common sensibility can enter into dialogue, showcasing a rich diversity of forms and approaches to working with reality as a film material. Every year, the festival presents a selection of projects made by emerging filmmakers, revisits the output of established auteurs and introduces audiences to titles unknown beyond niche circles.

FIDBA also sets out to act as a meeting ground for creators, encouraging broader ways of perceiving reality and exploring its cinematic expression – from film and visual arts through new media formats, photography and installations, to documentary theatre, transmedia storytelling and various intersections between documentary and fiction.

"Bad Poles" is a hybrid documentary in both content and form, chronicling the story of two young LGBTQ+ activists who, through social and performative activities, confront disinformation, violence, and hate speech – particularly its institutional variety. Their latest intervention unfolds during a Catholic Mass. Opposing the reality that surrounds them, the protagonists attempt to reshape it on their own terms, regardless of the consequences.
