IDFA ANNOUNCED FIRST COMPETITVE FILMS. 5 POLISH TITLES SELECTED!

IDFA has just announced the films for Mid-Length, Short, Student and Kids&Docs Competitions. Five Polish films will compete for awards in these competition sections. Three more will be presented outside the competition.

International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam is the biggest and one of the most important documentary festivals in the world. Each year it gathers an audience of over 280 thousand people, including 3 thousand guests form the documentary industry, and the films shown at IDFA often become later festival favourites. This year IDFA will take place November 14th - 25th.

Paweł Ziemilski's film "In Touch" and Polish-Belarus coproduction "Summa" by Andrei Kutsila were invited to the Mid-Length Documentary competition. The film's screening at IDFA will be as well its world premiere. Another film that will premiere in Amsterdam is "Dancing For You" by Katarzyna Lesisz, which will take part in the Kids & Docs competition, while "Connected" by Aleksandra Macieczyk will compete in the Student Competition.

Rafał Łysak's film "Unconditional Love" was officially selected to the Short Documentary competition. The film's world premiere took place at the 58th Krakow Film Festival where it was awarded the Golden Hobby-Horse.

This year also older Polish productions will be presented at the festival. In the special "Me" program the audience will see "Father and Son" by Paweł Łoziński and "Father and Son on a Journey" by Marcel Łoziński. "Me" focuses on personal and autobiographical documentary films.

This year the main guest of IDFA will be Helena Třeštíková who selected ten important and inspiring documentaries made by other filmmakers. At Helena Třeštíková's list we can find "First Love" by Krzysztof Kieślowski.

Since 1996 the festival is accompanied by Docs for Sale film market, which every day is visited by the representatives of documentary film industry. As every year over a dozen Polish documentary films will be included in the market's video catalogue.
