“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” RECEIVES A SPECIAL MENTION AT THE DUBLIN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
The short film “Happy Birthday”, directed by Aleksander Pakulski, received the DIFF International Short Special Mention Award at the Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF), where it had its world premiere.
The Dublin International Film Festival is one of the most iconic events in Ireland’s cultural calendar. DIFF presents a distinctive selection of Irish and international cinema in an elevated yet accessible experience for diverse audiences, while celebrating and supporting the art and craft of world-class filmmaking.
“Happy Birthday!” is a student short made at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School at the University of Silesia. The film follows Bogdan, who - at the request of his wife Wiktoria’s therapist - helps her organize a birthday party for their deceased son so that she can come to terms with the loss. At the same time, Bogdan, carrying his own unprocessed grief, begins to lose the strength to continue supporting her.
The film was screened in the special section “Isn’t It Fantastic?”, which showcases international genre short films at the intersection of horror, science fiction, fantasy, and thriller.
