“YOUR OWN BULLSHIT” WINS SPECIAL JURY RECOGNITION AT SXSW
The animated short by Daria Kopiec received a Special Jury Recognition award during this year's edition of one of the most important US-based film festivals – South By South West in Austin.
Together with the Sundance event, Austin's South by South West (SXSW) is one of the most significant independent cinema events in the US. In addition to film screenings, intermedia activities and the music stage both constitute very important element of the festival. There are also meetings and discussion panels for cinema fans. It takes place every year in mid-March. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the 2020 edition was cancelled.
Only 12 productions were invited to the international competition for the best animated short, including two films from Poland. Besides Daria Kopiec's award-winning film, the audience had the opportunity to watch Yelyzaveta Pysmak's animated short “My Fat Arse and I”.
“Your Own Bullshit” by Daria Kopiec is an intimate family story. There is nothing better than having dinner with your loved ones. Although it resembles a looped scenario that keeps repeating itself endlessly. And despite having to swallow the words of your loved ones in between every bite. At times they're bitter. At times so repetitive that it makes you want to throw up. Recited with unwavering tenacity for many long years.
