Thirty-year-old Basia lives in a detached house with her partner, a divorced man. Home alone as her partner is away with his daughter, she is unexpectedly visited by her old friend from Basia’s cycling team Mateusz who after breaking up with his boyfriend has nowhere to stay. As they spend the day together, Basia is forced to confront the abuse she suffered fifteen years earlier at the hands of her coach, Mateusz’s brother.

Grzegorz Zariczny »
Grzegorz Zariczny is a Polish director and screenwriter (b. 1983). He studied film directing at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School (Faculty of Radio and Television) of the University of Silesia in Katowice and completed a documentary programme at the Wajda School in Warsaw. His documentary debut The Dog Hill (Marysina Polana, 2010) marked the start of his career and was widely awarded in Poland and abroad. His short documentary The Whistle (Gwizdek, 2012) went on to win the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival (2013). Zariczny later directed fiction work including Waves (Fale, 2016), which had its world premiere in the Main Competition at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, and Simple Things (Proste rzeczy, 2020). He is known for combining documentary sensitivity with narrative storytelling and intimate, character-driven cinema.
