“INGA” BY KRZYSZTOF KOPCZYŃSKI WINS AWARD AT THE BEVERLY HILLS FILM FESTIVAL
The film "Inga", directed by Krzysztof Kopczyński, was honored at the 2026 Beverly Hills Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Award for Best Short Documentary. The award was presented during a gala held at the Beverly Hills Hilton Hotel, attended by approximately 500 filmmakers from the United States and around the world – with Kopczyński as the only representative from Central and Eastern Europe.
Established in 2000, the Beverly Hills Film Festival is considered one of the most prestigious and influential film events globally. Held in close proximity to the heart of the entertainment industry, the festival focuses on discovering emerging talent, showcasing the latest developments in cinema, and strengthening the role of film as a vital cultural force.
The protagonist of the award-winning documentary is young Inga, who arrived in Warsaw with her blind parents, five cats, and a dog following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. She lives on Dedala Street – a name resonating with symbolic meaning – and her everyday life is shaped by small rituals, dreams, and the responsibility she assumes while helping her parents and, at times, guiding them. In her world, childhood imagination intertwines with the experience of war and the memory of the home left behind in Ukraine.
